“The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows His handiwork.” Psalm 19 v 1

Robed magnificently in garments of glory,
Lord, You alone are the Creator of beauty we see,
as the domed sky high above us,
in overarching splendour ever is
reflecting You, the Sender.
The vault of velvet blackness, a starless night,
the earth at sweet repose of rest, Your behest.
Or restlessly perhaps, we may arise to see
the heavens bright, star studded by sparkling diamond light.
Or glimpse a sight in Your ordained times and seasons
of the spectacular silver moon riding high in the night,
omnipotent, sent it seems to silently bathe below
the sleeping world in mysterious luminous light.
Psalm 19 v 2 “Night unto night reveals knowledge of You,”
Of all the magnificence of the work
You choose to do to reveal Yourself in creation
Robed magnificently in garments of glory.
Across the widest expanse of the universe,
“There is no speech nor language
Psalm 19 v 3 where their voice is not heard.”
Where You paint a picture of glory,
“Their line has gone out
Psalm 19 v 4 throughout all the earth,” You have formed.
You lovingly shaped the earth
a perfect orb spinning in space
to be cushioned, embraced by the expanse of sky.
Night moves away to honour day,
Psalm 19 v 2 “Day unto day utters speech,”
eloquently, spectacularly, miraculously,
based on Psalm 19 v 4 and “In them You have set” witness
where daylight streams forth, puts to flight,
to chase far away the darkness of night.
