    Romans 8:34

...who is even at the right hand of God...

Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. 24 You are my portion, O Lord. 25 We are entirely dependent upon You. Yet, Lord Jesus, so much about You puzzles and perplexes us. Come, Lord, expound to us in all the Scriptures the things concerning yourself. 26 In You are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. 27 Open our understanding that we might comprehend the scriptures 28 better by being taught fully by You. Enable us to say we have seen Him as He is 29: both truly God and truly man. Do not let this profound truth be beyond our belief. As we come to understand and love You more and more we will be glad and rejoice in You. 30

    Amen.

  • Trust and Depend

    Trust and depend,

    Depend and rely.

    Rely and have confidence,

    Have confidence and be expectant.

    Hebrews 11:6

"...He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

    Be expectant and hopeful,

    Hopeful and joyful.

    Joyful in the Trinity,

    Your ability to trust.

    Trust in God’s love.

“You, My child, believe in My love and that will be enough.”

“Faith! ...how simple it is, and how glorious. Thank Me for having given it to you. Try to increase it; it will be as though you made Me grow in you.” 3

    Mark 9:24

...“Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

    Amen.

  • Almighty Father, Protector Providor

    2 Peter 1:3,4

...His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature...

    Almighty Father, Protector, Provider,

You call us to be family.

    May we honour You thereby.

    Galations 4:6

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!”

    Lord Jesus Christ, Redeemer, Saviour,

    You imbue us with dignity.

    May we praise You thereby.

    Galations 4:7

Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

Lord who is the Spirit, Strengthener, Sanctifier,

    You empower us with sanctity.

    May we esteem You thereby.

    Galations 5:5

For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

    All loving Trinity, Bestower, Benefactor,

    You make us worthy.

    May we bless You thereby.

    Galations 5:6

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.

    Galations 5:14

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

All powerful Trinity, may we walk in the Spirit. 4 I thank and praise You that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.  We share Your life. We can only honour, praise, esteem and bless You if, out of reverence and respect for You and each other, we decide to love. Make our love not just a sentiment but a decision and action, just as You choose to love us unconditionally. I ask this in Your name, Lord Jesus, as You gave of all Your love to achieve our redemption.

    Amen.

Book Review

Sue O Donnell s book comes out in the Year of Faith during which as a Church and individuals we are seeking to renew our own faith and help others enkindle or renew theirs. Sue s poetry and use of scripture help me reflect in the midst of all the hubbub and hurly burly of life on what I am really about as a Christian. All I do is with God and for God, with his people and for his people. The meditations are like a tonic when weariness or a sense of despondency sets in. St Paul says, “Be always cheerful and pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-17) Sue s In Short can nurture inner joy and help all of life become a prayer.

Book Review

sue's book is a compilation of insights, prayers, scripture and meditations drawn from her experience as a Christian seeking to live out her faith in everyday life over many years. As such they are grounded in real, lived-out daily experience. The readings on each page will enable the reader to find food for thought, prayer and reflection through the ups and downs and in and outs of life. The title In short captures the ethos of the short reflections Sue has arranged. But this must not detract from the reality, that although the reflections are short they are nonetheless deep. How deep? This is up to you, the reader. You will find something helpful whether you want to wade or swim; and something useful whether you have much time or little. Whatever stage you are at in your spiritual quest, you will find food for the soul in this book. I highly recommend it and pray you will find just what you need when you need it‘Listen Carefully to Me’ gives words of comfort, assurance and encouragement for each day. From someone who has been soaked in the scriptures, the passages read with the directness and urgency of prophetic utterance. Full of hope in God s goodness and the fulfilment of His Kingdom, the author’s plea is that we stay close to the living God, the source of all life and being. Indeed, if we are not close to Him, how can He guide us and His Church in His way? Here is hope and wisdom for our journey with Jesus Christ. —The Right Revd Mark Rylands, Anglican Bishop of Shrewsbury
