Winter Flowers A
Sue O'Donnell

A fine dusting of snow
But the flowers still grow.
As if to combine the seasons,
Lest we lose sight of the reason
For the twelve months of rejoicing.
Winter flowers offer hours of delight.
The colour set amidst frosty white is breathtaking,
Making the winter pass quicker due to wonder.
For as often as we stand entranced
By the beautiful presence of God,
We forget much that assails us.
Yes, the darkness and coldness of winter
Is offset by the winter flowers of colour.
Praise be to God’s glory.

WINTER FLOWERS

A fine dusting of snow
But the flowers still grow.
As if to combine the seasons,
Lest we lose sight of the reason
For the twelve months of rejoicing.
Winter flowers offer hours of delight.
The colour set amidst frosty white is breathtaking,
Making the winter pass quicker due to wonder.
For as often as we stand entranced
By the beautiful presence of God,
We forget much that assails us.
Yes, the darkness and coldness of winter
Is offset by the winter flowers of colour.
Praise be to God’s glory.

Lord, may we ever love, praise and bless Your name as Creator. In beauty You speak to us, even amidst the
coldness of winter. Wonder helps us to focus on You and not allow woes and worries to reign. Thank You for this
comfort, for the uplift of beauty. As we see, recognise, Your hand at work, may we respond in faith, expressing
prayers of thanksgiving. Amen.
