Welcome Home
Sue O'Donnell

“I fled Him down the nights and down the days
I fled Him down the arches of the years;
I fled Him down the labyrinthine ways of my own mind;
And in the midst of the fears
I hid from Him …
But with unhurrying chase,
And unperturbed pace,
Deliberate speed, majestic constancy
They beat – and a Voice beat
More instant than the feet –
‘All things betray thee, who betrays Me’.” Francis Thompson

His welcoming door stands always open.
Run home to meet Him,
Greet your Father excitedly!
He waits for you to return
To the extraordinary normality of His love.
A love so vast it swallows you safely.
A love so deep it immerses you completely.
A love so warm it breathes life into you.
A life to live in the confidence
Of knowing and sharing God’s holiness,
Allowing for His vision, His decision.
God’s wisdom working His way, day by day,
Into your life of hope.
Life lived in God’s family
Becomes energised, excited and expectant,
By the fullness of holy love giving joy.
A love so wide it encompasses you entirely.
A love so strong it supports you continually.
A love so steadfast it spells ‘home’ eternally.
God awaits your joyful homecoming.
Trust Him, turn to Him, rely upon Him,
The God of all loving wisdom, your Father.
Trusting God is the mustard seed of growth
In You present and future hope of happiness and holiness.
Go home to the One who will not fail you.
