“...that they may walk in My statutes and keep My judgments and do them; and they shall be My
people, and I will be their God’.” Ezekiel 11 v 20
We need help with this, turn then to
The Eucharist:
Gifting us to love Jesus;
Teaching as it reaches inwards;
Has love as its focus;
Removes us from the worldly;
Approves our prayerful emotion as devotion;
Invites us to rely upon Jesus;
Raises the question of holiness;
Appraises Jesus’ righteousness;
Echoe

Has love as its focus;
Removes us from the worldly;
Approves our prayerful emotion as devotion;
Invites us to rely upon Jesus;
Raises the question of holiness;
Appraises Jesus’ righteousness;
Echoes the reality of the †;
Recalls His supreme victory over sinfulness;
Refashions us in the likeness of Jesus;
Transforms as it reforms us.
“For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands.”
Psalm 92 v 4
The Eucharist:
Entirely possess us for Jesus;
Blesses us immeasurably;
Fastens us to the truth of Jesus;
Invites us to the life of Jesus;
Opens us to godly influence;
Teaches us to rely upon close dependence;
Feeds and nourishes us;
Inspires and strengthens us;
Helps us respect the Lord Jesus as Saviour;
Shows us Jesus as a loving Brother;
Increases our friendship with the Trinity;
Reflects our ability to worship;
Reminds us of godly richness.
“...the Spirit gives life.” 2 Corinthians 3 v 6
The Eucharist:
Speaks of steadfast faithfulness;
Promises much to us;
Delivers on the promise;
Makes God as One with us;
The Spirit too, in unity with Jesus;
Shows where our sufficiency lies;
Aids us to live without compromise;
Makes us expectant and joyful;
Enables us to feel peaceful and hopeful;
Allows God to be shown;
Makes God known to us;
A means of meaningful reverence.
“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree...they shall still bear fruit in old age...to declare that the
LORD is upright; He is my rock and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” Psalm 92 v 12, 14, 15
The Eucharist:
An expression of heartfelt emotion;
A deeper conviction of our sinfulness;
An understanding of the purpose of Jesus’ †;
Gifts us a new heart for Jesus;
A fresh purpose in living;
Bids us run the race alongside Jesus;
Helps us make progress by receiving of Jesus.
A gift of flesh most precious;
The actual body and blood of Jesus made real to us;
Here we yearn for our Saviour lifted up on the † for us;
We learn not to spurn our Redeemer;
He who opens the gates of righteousness;
Opened as at the † of forgiveness.
What a lot to gain Lord Jesus,
Nothing here is of loss in the Eucharist.
“When I think of Thee, Spirit of perfect righteousness and love, a wonderful joy comes to me,
for I know that Thou are guiding me, O Lord God of Hosts, surely Thou wilt ever comfort me.
Blessed be Thy Name forever and ever. Amen.” The Father Book of Prayer.
“...at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of
those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of
God the Father.” Philippians 2 v 10, 11
Let us do this, confess the name of Jesus, as God’s Son, the Holy One come to save us. Let us do
this as a community gathered in joy for the celebration of the Eucharist.
May our faith’s confession be confident, expectant, full of hope in all the grace and favour Jesus
won for us at the †, remembered during the Eucharist in the most powerful way.
Holy Spirit, Lord, please help us to pray the Eucharist wholeheartedly, not simply to be there in
body, our mind and heart elsewhere.
“Let me come into the church of God to meet the Spirit of God...to live in the
eternal...to bow in the holy place before the Holy One...to draw life from the Word
“BEFORE SERVICE and Truth everlasting...”
IN A CHURCH”
Eric Milner-White “...that my soul look up to the King in His beauty, and my heart plead the needs of
“MY GOD, MY Thy children...Let me go, and go again, into the house of the Lord, and be glad, and
GLORY” give thanks, and adore my King and my God.”
Oh what joyous contentment it is to do this at a celebration of the time committed to receiving
of the body and blood of Jesus in this miraculous way of the Eucharist.
We must pay homage to You dearest Father, choosing to do so through Your Son, by Your Spirit
of sanctity, receptive to all You then do for us in return.
John 12 v 26 “ ‘If anyone serves Me, him (her) My Father will honour’,” because in doing so, You glorify
the Lord Jesus’ death on the †for our forgiveness, a death totally sacrificial.
The †of Jesus being at the very centre of our life, the focus of the church’s mission and message,
that which draws people to Jesus, to celebrate this in the Eucharist is to truly worship.
Psalm 94 v 17 “Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul would soon have settled in silence.” I
know this to be true, it was happening. But then thankfully, the Spirit intervened to draw me
closer to Jesus.
“If I say, ‘My foot slips’, Your mercy, O LORD, will hold me up. In the multitude of my
v 18 anxieties within me, Your comfort delights my soul,” especially as I turn to Jesus in the
Eucharist.
Here I gain strength by looking at the blessings which flow from Jesus sacrificed on the †for our
forgiveness. I know I can enjoy holy protection and this is such a consolation.
It is through Jesus, alive to us in the Eucharist, when He shares Himself with us so intimately,
here all of this sacred Scripture makes sense.
Philippians 4 v 4 “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice,” so this must be important, as our true
joy is to be both found and expressed in Jesus. The Eucharist is the joyous expression gifted us.
v 5, 6 “The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing,” for indeed there is no need, none at all as
nothing but our own wilful sinning separates us from Your love dearest Father, that love
offered us in Jesus.
“In everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known
to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts
v7 and minds through Christ Jesus.”
At the Eucharist, we are reminded to transfer the burden of woe and worry, whatever that is,
on to Jesus hung on the † to resolve the dilemma, for He is our Saviour. We pray for peace to be
shown to us.
Praise be for the Eucharist, combined with the † of Jesus that we know the peace which the
world cannot give. “The LORD will give strength to His people, the LORD will bless His
Psalm 29 v 11 people with peace.”
The promise is fulfilled in Jesus. Thank You for the peace which emanates from His presence.
Thank You for His presence in holy communion.
“Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim You, who walk in the light of Your
Psalm 89 v 15 NIV presence, O LORD.” In Jesus, through Jesus, at the Eucharistic celebration, we learn to
worship in the joy of Your presence, our real contentment and enduring happiness.
Oh the blessings of dwelling in Jesus. May we ever be praising You, almighty Trinity, as You
based on have “Delivered us from death, and our feet from stumbling, that we may walk before You,
Psalm 56 v 13 Lord God, in the light of life,” which is Jesus as revealed to us by the Spirit, praise be! Amen.
