“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties ...” Psalm 139 v 23
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxieties ...” Psalm 139 v 23
Eyes turning, yearning,
Longing for belonging
To the next world.
Yet, Lord, although increasingly
You show me very clearly
The power of Your glory,
The wondrous work of the Trinity,
I am not worthy, not at all.
Please call to me again.
Restore me to Your favour
Through the power of Your holiness.
Help me in my intention
To make every effort with devotion.
Your Spirit in me, active and effective,
Is to be my way forwards, Lord Jesus.
May He breathe new life into my efforts,
Be my persuasion, my daily direction,
Not just when it suits me.
“And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139 v 24
To live to the glory of the Trinity
Depends upon consistency of prayer and effort.
Lord, grant me this, then Lent is not wasted.
Keep please, my sense of failure in perspective
Because always You will help and encourage me.
The power of Your love is amazing, life transforming.
This is what I will work with.
Lord, make me perceptive, receptive in order to make progress.
Lent is meant for us to see progress.
Therefore address me, bless me, favour me.
Call upon my resilience, defiance of the world’s way.
Help me please to pray with frank honesty,
Then the glory will be in Your renewal of me,
However long or short the journey home to heaven.
I will rely on the transforming power and energy
