The Wonder At Christmas

Lord Jesus, here amongst us,
In adoration we call You:

Lord Jesus, here amongst us,
In adoration we call You:
“Wonderful, Counsellor Mighty God,

Prophet, Priest and King of Glory.
A love made real to us,
Connected, no one rejected.
What a magnificent love is this,
Shown, made known at Christmas.
A Saviour has come to us
Travelling from His heavenly throne
In all humility, as a Baby,
Who will lay in a manger.
An animal feeding trough sufficient enough
For Jesus, born now to us,
True Man and true God,
The mighty One, eternal goodness,
Come amongst us to bless us,
To ever possess us
As He does in the Eucharist,
By gifting His most precious,
Body and blood given us.
Gifted to make us truly rich
As the Son of God we possess.
Let us adore and offer thanks
For all Jesus does for us
From heaven to earth,
In a holy birth,
From cradle to cross
That mankind be not lost.
And this He did
By love’s full grace
To save and replenish the human race.
Thus let us now adore, adore,
Praise the Lord forevermore.
Rejoice in God’s choice of Jesus.
Herein is the wonder at Christmas.
And every time, season beyond this.
For thankfully, Jesus, God with us,
Has made a promise,
To remain now with us.
Speaking this plainly, straightforwardly,
In words packed with meaning:

“ ‘I am with you always, even to the end of the age’.” Matthew 28 v 17

“ ‘...no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.” John 10 v 29, 30

Let us pray.
