Sunshine Days
Sue O'Donnell

Summer meadow wild and free,
Reminiscent of childhood’s liberty.
Sunshine days, oh how happy we still can be,
Each day lived oh, so fully.
Unencumbered and really carefree
Like the halcyon days of childhood’s bounty.
Time where life was taken just as it came, daily,
A most precious gift of Your presence as parental care, Lord.
Relying upon the provision provided for us lovingly,
In spite of the transcendent majesty of Your mystery.
We enjoy freedom to explore, roam without worry,
Freedom to find

Summer meadow wild and free,
Reminiscent of childhood’s liberty.
Sunshine days, oh how happy we still can be,
Each day lived oh, so fully.
Unencumbered and really carefree
Like the halcyon days of childhood’s bounty.
Time where life was taken just as it came, daily,
A most precious gift of Your presence as parental care, Lord.
Relying upon the provision provided for us lovingly,
In spite of the transcendent majesty of Your mystery.
We enjoy freedom to explore, roam without worry,
Freedom to find out, at leisure, without hurry.
Such freedom was not burdened by care in its perplexity,
Taking life as it comes, quite simply.
Oh that we could now journey on similarly,
Realising we can if we live prayerfully.
Prayer opens us to God in His bounty,
It is in prayer we learn to be free of anxiety.
But as this is a discipline to be practised continually,
Lord, please help us to pray consistently.

Lord, let us come before You as our loving, caring, compassionate Father who wants nothing but the best for us. A
happy childhood is such a blessing. Thank You. May the freedom of the summer meadow remind us of the liberty
by which we flourish. The freedom from fear, worry, doubt comes as we turn to You, calling upon Your sovereign
power and holy authority, asking, allowing You to take care of all things at all times because we prayed and asked
of You as Father.

We have to learn as adults, to rely upon Your heavenly care, provision and protection without fear or anxiety.
Please build us up in trust as we pray. Guide us, guard us in the sure knowledge and experience of Your presence.
May any happy memory serve as an invitation to ‘Come and see’ Your hand at work. Yours is a transcendent
mystery, yet You come to us in a variety of ways. Please help us to recognise Your ever loving presence and
respond. Amen.
