Stop, Sit Awhile
Sue O'Donnell

Do not let the tulip
Slip past your notice.
Stop, sit awhile
And gaze in wonder.
Ponder how this spring cup,
Cup of such beauty,
Does always look up to heaven.
It is something to do
With opening out in the warmth.
Such thoughts could be,
Should in fact be,
A reminder to us.
We should periodically stop,
To ponder the matters of life,
Of love, of our being.
Then in the wondering,
Especially when this leads to prayer,
We will be seeing experiencing
Something of the love of God.
This warmth, His war

This warmth, His warmth can open us up,

Lord, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, You are at the centre of all that matters in life. Yours is the
love we long for, the love which shapes our being. Open us up to Your presence as we feel the
warmth of Your love upon us, by inspiring us to see the beauty of spring. Love always gives shape
to something which is beautiful.
O most holy Trinity, please shape us through the power of Your love. Invite us to stop, be still,
reflect, to connect with You through prayer. Thank You for all the beauty of spring, especially the
tulip always holding up its cup, looking up to heaven. May we partake of the cup of communion,
our union with You dearest Father, through the memorial of the Last Supper. May our turning to
the Lord Jesus make a real difference to our everyday life.
May we earnestly seek His presence, Your presence, through the promised Spirit. “...He will
John 14 v 16 AMP give you another Counsellor ...” that we receive all the help required, the support, the
strengthening, the guidance. And all of this will always come down to prayer and communion with,
to, through the Lord Jesus.
Just as spring could not advance in all its beauty without the iconic tulip, our life cannot be made
beautiful, honourable, upright, worthy, if we do not turn to the Lord Jesus. May we
based on always claim Him as our Easter promise and ever call on His counselling Spirit. Then “Christ
Colossians 1 v 27 in us will be the hope of glory,” Your glory, heavenly Father.
