Revel in roses,
No longer planted
As ‘Roses’ only
A tried, tested stand-alone fashion as formerly.
Now, mixed amongst the perennials,
A wide variety in summer,
Roses add depth of colour
Whether rambling, scrambling or covering ground,
As in a hedge or edge of border.
Roses add style with panache
And that all-important,
Much loved, splash of perfume.
Colour themed borders
Are set alight by roses.
A true delight
In their classic structure,
Striving to reach a peak
In July, to speak
Of romance,
