And maybe Sunday is the best day,
Gifted for us to realise this,
Sunday, a blessed day for prayer and worship.
Yes, Sunday, a day to honour our friendship,
All for Your glory, Almighty Trinity.
You call us to be family
And a family is built up on time together.
Sunday is the day specially set aside
To enjoy more time together.
Without the daily clock ticking,
Sunday feels different because it is different!
Sunday is not really a day to catch up,
To make amends for the week’s short fall in tasks.
Sunday is a day set aside for prayer and worship
That in our deepening faith,
We are built up for whatever lies in the week ahead.
So let us be Spirit led and relax!
Let us use the time properly in the service of the Trinity,
In the prayer and worship of extra time together.
Time for praise and thanksgiving for the grace,
The blessings, the benefits by which we are living at all.
Let our worship be offered in Jesus
As the friendship of our Father becomes very real to us.
Our Father appeals to us through the Son
That daily life is brought into balance
And the battle over tasks and busyness is won.
May we then devote Sunday as a special day,
A day set aside for prayer and worship,
Recognising the two fold benefit to the Trinity
In our ability to spend time listening, learning,
Asking, receiving, interceding, pleading, praising and thanking.
The benefit being an increase in the reverence of obedience.
Then of course, there is the benefit to us in love, insight, delight.
How very good prayer and worship must be for us!
