Nothing But Love
Sue O'Donnell

“Search me, O God, and know my heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if
there is any offensive way in me, and teach me in the way everlasting.”

“Search me, O God, and know my heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if
there is any offensive way in me, and teach me in the way everlasting.”
Psalm 139 v 23, 24

Real faith focus
Is simply where,
Forged from experience
You centre upon
God’s full heart
Of utter love.
There where undoubtedly
You can enter
Into open truth.
With complete trust
That He must
Choose to respond.
Such is His
Powerful, almighty love
He can do
No other than
React and act
In an outpouring
Of merciful grace.

“A contrite heart O God, Thou wilt not despise.” Psalm 51 v 17

He will embrace
You, welcome you
With arms held
Open wide for
You to step
Inside and shelter.
Safe from harm
Away from alarm.
Just loved, simply
Loved into being
Whole once more.
Nurtured, cared for,
Repaired as new,
Being carefully, lovingly,
Restored in detail.

Where we did
Fail, absolutely forgotten.

“ ‘Come now, let us reason together’, says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow’.” Isaiah 1 v 18

The slate wiped
As clean as
Can be. Mercy,
Pure, loving mercy.
So wide, deep,
High is God’s
All powerful love,
Reaching way beyond
Our understanding.

It is simply
Almost too difficult
To hope for
Or handle, hold.
Yet God’s love
Is the reality,
The totality of
Our rescued response.

“Merciful God, I have sinned in what I have thought and said, in the wrong I have
done and in the good I have not done. I have sinned in ignorance; I have sinned in
weakness; I have sinned through my own deliberate fault; I am truly sorry. I
repent and turn to You; for me, for my Saviour Jesus Christ’s sake and to renew my
life to the glory of Your name.” Source unknown.

So magnanimous in
Forgiveness is God,
He gifted His
Only beloved Son
To pay our
Penalty, by taking
All manner of
Pain and perplexity.

All sin upon
Him. Christ died
That we may
Live, then forgive,

Just like Him.
The complexity of
Life made simple:
Name Christ’s accomplishment,
His total replenishment.
Proclaim truth, in
Through, with Him.

“I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord
for He has been good to me.” Psalm 13 v 5, 6

Then begin to
Live, fully live
For God’s glory.
There it is
Where mankind’s story
Became a success.
The mess we
Have wrought, brought
About, concealed
By God’s love,
Fully, renewed
By He who
Knew nothing,
Nothing but love.
Run to Him,
He’s awaiting you.
Seek to speak
Your genuine sorrow.

“Have mercy on me, O God, in Your faithful love, in Your great tenderness wipe away my
offences; wash me clean from my guilt, purify me from my sin…. Purify me with hyssop
till I am clean, wash me till I am whiter than snow….God, create in me a clean heart,
renew within me a resolute spirit, do not thrust me away from Your presence, do not take
away from me Your spirit of holiness. Give me back the joy of Your salvation, sustain in
me a generous spirit.” Psalm 51 v 1-2…7…10-12

Then ask to
Borrow His sheer
Heart of love,
Placed within, near
To your own.
Together you can
Do so much,
So very much,

All in love.
Priceless, perfect treasure,
The fullest measure
Of God’s love
Sent, meant for
Our discovery, recovery.
Ask and receive,
Seek and find,
Hold, bind yourself
In the Father’s
Heart of love.

“The Lord your God is in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you
with gladness, He will quiet you with His love.” Zephaniah 3 v 17

“Lord Jesus, Thank You for Your safe keeping with which You have protected
me…and endlessly paid for me every debt of praise and thanks I owed the Father. I
offer You my heart…I pray that my every thought and word; deed and will, may be
guided today to please Your gracious will. Amen.” Mechtild of Hackeborn

“Let the peace of God rule in your hearts.” Colossians 3 v 15
