“I am ready to fall, and my sorrow is continually before me. For I will declare my iniquity; I will be in
anguish over my sin.” Psalm 38 v 17
Stumbling steps,
Frequent falling,
Ever erring,
Mostly mistakes,
Failures, failures.
How great is our need
Of God’s mercy,
Offering
New beginnings,
New blessings,
New hope,
All found in Jesus,
As the Spirit works with us.
“And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.”

“And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You.” Psalm 39 v 7
“Deliver me from all my transgressions...Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; do not be
silent at my tears...” Psalm 39 v 8, 12
based on For surely I need Your compassion as “I press toward the goal for the prize of Your upward
Philippians 3 v 14 call in Christ Jesus,” that most merciful call as You are so patient with me.
Thank You that this upward call grants me new hope enhanced by “...forgetting those things
v 13 which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.”
This is made possible by Your mercy towards all of us who believe in Christ Jesus, the Mediator.
Please do not be silent to our call, prayer offered in our Saviour’s name.
May I keep the requirement of perseverance ever in mind, especially when it is so easy to feel
discouraged. We must depend upon Your mercy.
Thank You that mercy calls us, invites us to devote ourselves to knowing Jesus as our Saviour,
that we can dare to approach Your might and majesty, holy Father.
May the Spirit make this our consuming focus, our highest, warmest desire, that we become a
son or daughter after the Lord Jesus’ own heart of reverence.
The goal You mercifully set for us is holiness, for this is what is best for us. May we spare no
effort in pressing toward the mark of knowing, loving, honouring, serving You through Christ
Jesus.
“Do not forsake me, O LORD! O my God, be not far from me! Make haste to help me, O
Psalm 38 v 21, 22 Lord, my salvation,” lest my iniquity overtake me.
Lord God of mercy, I look to You, Be not silent to my plea for help. “And now, Lord, what do I
Psalm 39 v 7 wait for?” In sincerity I pray. “My hope is in You.”
v8 “Deliver me from all my transgressions,” as mercifully You allow the Lord Jesus to take on
my punishment. How blessed we are by His righteousness.
“ ‘Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; do not be silent to my tears ...
v 12, 13 Remove Your gaze from me, that I may regain strength.” Again I plead for Your mercy,
dependent upon the righteousness of Jesus. Amen.
