“For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds in Christ.”
2 Corinthians 1 v 5
Why is this?
Because God is with us
In Jesus, Emmanuel, in the Spirit
Who although a Brother,
As a Saviour, again in the Spirit,
Is love’s Mediator, passionate
And our Mentor, compassionate.
What a most marvellous plan, our Father!
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ, the Father of all mercies and God of all comfort...”
2 Corinthians 1 v 3

Thank You for making Your comfort known to us, dearest Father, by means of our Saviour
Brother as Mentor as well as love’s Mediator. How generous You are towards us in Your most
marvellous plan to come to our aid.
May we then, alongside the Lord Jesus, motivated by His and Your Spirit, be willing and able to
help each other whatever their need or want or shortage.
At times we all suffer. May this experience make us receptive to the need to be merciful towards based on
any other in their suffering. “...as we are partakers of the sufferings, so also we will partake 2 Corinthians 1 v 7
of the consolation.” What a godly plan for us. Thank You.
based on “Blessed is the (wo)man who trusts in You LORD and whose hope is in You,” because he Jeremiah 17 v 7

“For (s)he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the
v 8 river, and will not fear when heat comes.”
Cont May the Spirit help us to learn the lessons of suffering, that “...its leaf will be green,” as
suffering encourages and enhances consolation in its turn.
Cont. “And it will not be anxious in the year of drought,” for we know how others will help us in
our time of need.
Cont. Let then, us in our turn not “...cease from yielding fruit,” the fruit of faith’s lessons learned
through Jesus. I pray in His name as Consoler. Amen.
