LORD, my God,
what an incredible plan
You began for me,
that day upon Calvary.
How should this be
that You chose Your son to die,
instead of me?
That You in He
should suffer the penalty
of my every sin
that love would let me
begin to be
a member of the most prized family?
How should this be?
“The Lord looseth the prisoner.” Psalm 146 v 7
For it pleased You to see
me set free,
at liberty from fear of death,
free to be fully
the child You chose me to be,
child of Your self–giving love.
How should this be
such an enormity offered, given, gifted,
to me?
You gave up Your Son
Rather than give up on me.
How or why should this ever be
that Your love is so complete
You meet me sacrificially?
