“…for those the Lord has ransomed shall return.” Isaiah 35 v 10
“…for those the Lord has ransomed shall return.” Isaiah 35 v 10
To like is not to love.
To love is a decision,
An action above an attraction.
Lord Jesus, I am sure
You cannot like our waywardness
Shaped as carelessness,
Or perhaps defiance, arrogance
And of most distress, rebellion.
But You must love us
With an intensity, immensity
Actually beyond our imagination,
For You willingly as well as obediently
Come to us at Christmas
As the message of love.
You come to bring us God’s blessings
By addressing those very things
Which hold us back.
Or that which we lack
Which add up to deflect us
From the relationship which
Above all else in life, matters most and is precious.
“Open the gates that the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in. You will keep him (or her) in perfect
peace whose mind is stayed on You.” Isaiah 26 v 3
Yes, You come as the message of love
To restore that friendship with our Father,
To lift us above the strife of our immortality,
To put at bay the enmity of the tempter.
You left Your heavenly realm
To come down to earth,
A birth most wondrous,
The real and everlasting meaning of Christmas.
And so life can be made joyous
In spite of and above the adversity of circumstances.
