Life Has No Limit
Sue O'Donnell

Each distant star brightening the velvet blue sky,
Alive in my mind’s eye, the newborn’s first cry.
Blue hyacinths sweet smelling, lasting perfume,
A home filled with love, room after room.
The carafe of clear water to assuage my thirst,
My child’s toddler picture, a much treasured first.
A Bible aside me, best read of the day,
Stunning bouquet of flowers, delight come what may.

Each distant star brightening the velvet blue sky,
Alive in my mind’s eye, the newborn’s first cry.
Blue hyacinths sweet smelling, lasting perfume,

Pens and paper to write as I in today I do find,
My husband’s smiling face, always so kind.
The telephone ringing, a friend calls to say
“I’m thinking about you, can I help in some way?”
My grand daughter’s photo, so smiling, so sweet,
The cuddles she gives me, my joy is complete!
Two teddies reminding, “Cele” and “Brate”,
Put both together, they bid “Celebrate”!

Music softly playing a heaven like sound,
Security, warmth, trust, in my family found.
Colours of my choosing, the room is so bright,
Anticipating tomorrow, the sun’s beaming light.
Or February’s snow softly falling, in silent repose,
I glance out of the window, it’s settling I suppose.
Turning my world to a blanket’s covering white,
As far as I can see, fresh, beautiful sight.

The cosy warmth indoors, munching melted buttered toast,
Many a glad thought in making the most.
A picture of bluebells strewn through the wood,
Reminding Spring’s round the corner, not far away stood.
Purple African Violet, my mother’s kind gift,
Green potted plants, growth’s spurting uplift.
My rabbit from childhood, a baby’s first toy,
The treasures around me, my thanks do employ.

Bed bound so often, restricted perhaps,
Life has no limit if I take off the wraps.
Uncover the memories, eyes open to treasure,
Each thing surrounding brings its own certain pleasure.
God is so good, so kind it’s beyond comparing,
He’s given me a life to offer in sharing.
Daily His message allows me to grow
More certain of love found in all that I know.

Enjoy life, it’s for full living, each part of the day.
Christ’s † remains triumphant come ever what may.
The blessing of resting, secure in His love,
Receiving His message, God’s word from above.
Seeing He cares, and stays always so near,
Is ready and willing to carry my fear.
Remaining can be testing of my growing belief,
But realising He shares this is always relief.
I have nothing without Him, but everything with,
Knowing life is what you make it, gladly I’ll live.

God in the seeking, I speak my finding to you,
More real than surroundings, His hope does shine through.
Life has no limits, He brings heaven to earth,
Changing my outlook, my reason for birth.
He’s letting me see how to be still and to know,
Then later perhaps, I’ll be called out to go.
Alive in His name, intention burning with zeal,
He’ll be beckoning me forward, a move on appeal.

Until such a time, I remain quiet and at rest,
Knowing, just knowing, this is His present behest.
Content in the day if obedient I become,
Time to see God at work, His hand close upon.
He’s teaching me, reaching me, pruning to test
My resolve to serve with His choice what’s best.
Strength and consolation, His care offerings of true love,
Encouragement given to bring His peace from above.
