Life Giving

Requested, expected to be holy, without blemish,
We need Jesus as Lord in the Eucharist,
One able to transform life by His holiness.
That we then begin to experience with us
The kingdom Jesus came to establish and share out.
We are enabled to share in the treasures of grace.
In the sacraments, especially the Eucharist
Where we are gifted the precious body and blood of Jesus.
It is in this inner life we experience God’s kingdom
More fully, more richly, more deeply through Jesus,
His indwelling Spirit ever working upon this.
This new life in Jesus requires nourishing and feeding.
“ ‘Repent, and turn away from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. Cast away
from yourselves all the transgressions which you have committed and get yourselves a new heart and
a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel’.” Ezekiel 19 v 30, 31
Partaking of Jesus we are to produce the fruits of faith’s maturity,
Shaping both the identity and final destiny for us.
This work we cannot accomplish independently.
Our spiritual health depends upon the renewal of our inner life.
It is made possible in the Spirit, as Jesus feeds us.
Hence He gives us His body and blood
Under the form of consecrated bread and wine,
A very fine offering indeed, if we but surrender to the Sender.
Let us do this by means of the Spirit
Entirely given to working with us through Jesus,
Renewing in our feeding, the life giving gift of grace,
Poured out upon us in the Eucharist, so richly, so lavishly.
“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying
ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and godly in the present age.”
Titus 2 v 11, 12

“Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ, who
gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own
special people, zealous for good works.” Titus 2 v 13, 14
