“Do not be wise in your own eyes; reverence the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh
and strength to your bones.” Proverbs 3 v 7, 8

Lord, You know how each day
I choose to start to pray in this way:
“Holy Spirit, soul of my soul I adore Thee;
enlighten, guide, strengthen and console me;
tell me what I ought to do
and command me to do it.
I promise to be submissive in everything
that Thou shalt ask of me
and to accept all that Thou permittest to happen to me,
Cardinal Mercier only show me what is Thy will.”
1 John 3 v 21 For “If my heart does not condemn me,
personalised I have confidence toward God.” Let Him lead me.

“Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
James 1 v 2-4
And You know too, how I have struggled
with the clauses about submission which is my admission
to feeling not yet ready to genuinely pray
that I may obey You in all things.
I am sorry I like to have my own way, so I do disobey.
I am sorry when I have not accepted the Father’s sovereign will
for me, given through You to be apparent in all I do that I may be holy.
But I have continued to pray this each day,
believing I will progress to share Your holiness.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him/her ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it
will be given.” James 1 v 5
Yesterday You gave me a new insight into
the decision about submission and this fresh understanding
was – all thanks be to God – an opportunity
of looking at God’s commanding in a different way.
What You explained to me was the error of my thinking,
submission not being mainly about authority, nor obedience,
and I have to say, that realisation took away a burden from me.
Submission is about permission, my permission to You
to let God do in and through You, all He plans and purposes to with me.
For His decision made out of nothing but love and respect,
