June Bloom In Tune
Sue O'Donnell

June bloom in tune
Cannot come too soon,
For each rich flower
Signals the delight of summer.
Cosmos, allium, some later iris,
Mowing as the grass is growing,
Smooth lines drawing as if of velvet.
And of course,
The return of the roses,
Roses for indoor posies.
Salvia, lavender, scabious,
God is so good to us!
Lupins are gorgeous,
Whilst wisteria is marvellous,
With its varieties of lilac blue
Through to pink or creamy, dreamy white.

June bloom in tune
Cannot come too soon,
For each rich flower
Signals the delight of summer.
Cosmos, allium, some later iris,
Mowing as the grass is growing,
Smooth lines drawing as if of velvet.
And of course,
The return of the roses,
Roses for indoor posies.
Salvia, lavender, scabious,
God is so good to us!
Lupins are gorgeous,
Whilst wisteria is marvellous,
With its varieties of lilac blue
Through to pink or creamy, dreamy white.
Ever God likes to delight us.
And perhaps this is never,
Ever more evident than in summer.
June portrays a wonderful scene,
So much to sit and look at,
Now spring has been and done her silent work.
Let us not shirk our responsibility
To amaze and give praise to God,
For all His wondrous goodness to us.
Praise, amaze whether in the silence of personal prayer,
Or as you share your delight with others.
It is in the love of God we discover,
Uncover all the beauty which surrounds us,
Seeing this as pure gift to lift our thoughts heavenwards.
For manifold are the blessings of beauty,
Especially in the June bloom in tune
Which awaits us because God is good to us.
“It is not far to go
For You are near,
It is not far to go
For You are here.
And not by travelling, Lord,
We come to You,
But by way of love
And we love You.” Amy Carmichael 1868-1951
And we come to You in the silence of adoration, swept away by the beauty of Your world, Lord God. Thank
You for surrounding us with signs of Your love for us. Thank You for the June bloom about to break out to
delight us. May we feel Your closeness in this and ever worship. Amen.
