Jesus And Us
Sue O'Donnell

“My God will meet all our needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”
based on Philippians 4 v 19
What has the Lord Jesus done for us?
Well certainly, as we pray, we can say
He has saved us by His †.
Saved us from separation, taking us away
From our final destination of heaven.
In addition, Jesus comes to us in the Eucharist
To remind us of this very thing,
To bring us renewed help and healing from sinfulness,
And forgiveness is gifted from God through Jesus.

What else has Jesus achieved for us
Aside from the grace and favour won at the †
And re-presented to us in the Eucharist?
Jesus accompanies us through thick and thin,
Happiness and sadness, yes ups and downs.
He does this by sending, lending us His Spirit.
Jesus knows that in sharing His holiness,
Life’s actions and reactions take on a different shape for us.
Jesus befriends us, accompanies us home to heaven.
Jesus teaches us both by word and example.
Jesus ministers to us to heal our hurts.
Jesus inspires us to be as members of His family,
The best version of ourself we can be.
He is the foundation stone of our faith, a Builder.
And of course, being the Redeemer, Jesus is to us
Such gain, way way beyond anything we have lost.
He is our crucified Saviour rising to new life,
To invite us to accompany Him joyfully.
Jesus is our confident hope and realistic expectation,
For He is the fulfilled promise of our Father.
In fact, Jesus, the Word of God, helps us to realise
Through the brightness of His glorious holiness,
Luke 1 v 37 “ ‘With God nothing will be impossible.”
“ ‘If you have faith as a mustard seed, You will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there, and it
will move, and nothing will be impossible for you’.” Matthew 17 v 20
Jesus teaches us to pray and listen
So our Father can have His say.
We are shown how thereby faith is grown.
Jesus shows us how to get our needs met,
Our problems aired, shared and maybe solved.
Jesus being the solution to any one of life’s difficulties,
It is in Jesus we find the resolution of faith.
Jesus shows us the way to live, His way.

Jesus furnishes us with the truth of God’s love for us.
Jesus’ power surges into our life to urge us to godliness.
Jesus offers us a totally new, cleansed, healed,
Redeemed, restored nature, Spirit graced and embraced.
Yes, Jesus befriends us with such godly purpose,
His ever holy love active amongst us.
Life has many mountains of difficulty to tackle,
Whether these be in relationships or prosperity,
Jesus is there right alongside us.
Jesus is our encouragement when problems pile up,
Asking us to never, ever give up on our faith.
Rather we must return to prayer, seeking the help we need.
Jesus teaches us to intercede, each for another.
It is in Jesus, by the Spirit, we discover
How effective prayer is in extending God’s kingdom on earth.
Jesus teaches us that faith comes by hearing the word of God,
Showing us how He is this very Word of assistance.
Jesus, again by the Spirit, reveals to us
How to apply our faith so our daily needs are met.
Get understanding, gain wisdom by coming to Jesus.
And all of His blessing He makes available to us,
Just as He did to His disciples at the Last Supper,
Anointing and appointing them and us to go out into the world
And learn the gospel message regarding who He is,
What He does and all He accomplishes.
Very effectively, Jesus is the worship we are to offer our Father.

“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.” Psalm 23 v 1 NIV

“ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed by Your name’.” Matthew 6 v 9
