Father, One oh so generous,
The greatest gift this Christmas
Is Your Son, the Lord Jesus,
That in coming to You through Him
We begin to experience true happiness.
And this is continuous for each of us
As we feel the peace of Your presence,
Real confidence in Your sovereignty shared in Him.
“The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and
might, the Spirit of knowledge and of fear of the LORD. His delight is in the reverence of the LORD.”
Isaiah 11 v 2, 3
This is acceptance of Your kindly mercy,
And the realisation of how much,
How very much indeed You love us.
This is why Christmas brings such joy.
The peace and joy You offer due to Christmas,
Will become our everlasting happiness
Because You are with us,
In Your Son, the Lord Jesus our Saviour Brother.
“Jesus looked at him and loved Him.” Matthew 10 v 21
A new time of friendship has begun.
We could want no more than this.
No wonder we ponder on the Christmas story.
Not merely for a day, no, but longer.
Even beyond the season of Christmas,
We have every reason to hope.
A specific reason in the fulfilment of a promise.
Not as a platitude nor theory,
But as a tangible, audible, visible reality.
“Kings shall shut their mouths at Him; for what had not been told them they shall see, and what they had not heard
they shall consider.” Isaiah 52 v 15
Peace and joy and hope all found in our Saviour Brother, the Messiah
