Intervention And Transformation
Sue O'Donnell

“The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but He loves him (her) who follows
righteousness.” Proverbs 15 v 9
In fact our Father loves all of us,
But not our way of life and being
If wayward, wanton, careless,
If intent on ignoring the Lord Jesus.
So what is the answer to this?
“The prayer of the upright is His delight.” Proverbs 15 v 8
For prayer is an insight into wisdom,

“The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but He loves him (her) who follows
righteousness.” Proverbs 15 v 9
In fact our Father loves all of us,
But not our way of life and being
If wayward, wanton, careless,
If intent on ignoring the Lord Jesus.
So what is the answer to this?
“The prayer of the upright is His delight.” Proverbs 15 v 8
For prayer is an insight into wisdom,
The counsel of Jesus especially,
As formed and shaped for us perfectly
By the Spirit of holiness.
“Holy Spirit...tell me what I ought to do and command me to do it...” Cardinal Mercier
If we are people of the Holy Spirit,
Surely this has to be reflected clearly
In all we think, desire, say and do?
The Holy Spirit must be our daily guide.
“...show me what is Thy will.” Cardinal Mercier
Challenges, difficulties, dilemmas are to be met
Beneath the sanctified guidance of the Spirit of intervention.
For the Spirit was given us from our Father
That we would walk in fellowship with Jesus thus finding life’s transformation.
“The heart of him (her) who has understanding seeks knowledge...” Proverbs 15 v 14
We enter into His fellowship at any time of day
When we wisely, faithfully, decide to pray,
Striving by this not to live in our own strength
But in the power of the Holy Spirit of Jesus.
“You send forth Your Spirit, we are created and You renew the face of the earth.”
based on Psalm 104 v 30
Being a praying people, open to the Holy Spirit,
Enables us to proclaim Jesus as Lord,
As we claim His very own Spirit as Advocate,
Our Counsellor and most wise Friend.
“In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge.”
Psalm 14 v 26
Do we turn to prayer, Spirit led, fed sufficiently?
In this way we allow the Holy Spirit
To throw open the prison doors which hold us.
The Spirit works to release us from bondage.
“...come boldly to the throne of grace...” Hebrews 4 v 16
Let the Spirit of conversion be at work with us,
Ever drawing us closer to our Father of mercy

Through Jesus, the Son of His love.
The Spirit is the God of intervention and transformation.
“A wise (wo)man fears and departs from evil, but a fool rages and is self confident.” Psalm 14 v 16
“The simple in heart folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.” Psalm 14 v 18
O Lord, make us prudent through prayer Spirit graced, helping us to look to the counsel of Jesus,
Proverbs 14 V 22 for “Mercy and truth belong to those who devise good.” May the Spirit of correct value
always be at work with us.
The Spirit teaches us to regard Jesus as our refuge, a shelter, a fortress, our protection, our
safeguard that we live with hope because we learn to believe in Your goodness towards us.
“For You have been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his (her) distress, a
Isaiah 25 v 4 refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat.” How great is our need of Your power.
Everlasting Father, God of intervention, You work with us by means of the Lord Jesus, opening
us to His Spirit of transformation. Please keep us praying, for this is so vital to our well being.
Also, of equal importance, may the Holy Spirit help us to glorify You through Jesus, for what is
of You is for the good of the world. Amen.
