Our expectation grows yearly.
Going for gold
As of old,
In design, in construction, in planting.
Everybody is at the top of their game.
The judges are looking for total perfection,
The connection is a flower show
Which delights and excites us.
Where the immense effort impresses us.
For the tasks are monumental.
The judges are in no way sentimental,
Their brief is plainly perfection in all detail.
However extreme the planting is
Keeping looking for golden glory.
As we react emotionally
To all the planting reflects
In its flora and fauna.
Everything has to be a celebration of craftsmanship.
Nothing must slip past the judging eye.
High on the agenda
Is the flamboyance in colour, design, style,
In floristry, in forestry, in garden opportunity.
Some styles are characteristic, no surprise to us.
Others carry the ‘Wow’ of amazement.
What incredible outdoor species are set out for us.
The focus is on line, shape, symbolism.
Some gardens are like an imaginary Eden
Away from the troubles of the world.
Golden glory a hope filled story,
Both for gardeners and mere onlookers.
Emotions stimulated, the souls massaged,
What happens to the spirit amidst such beauty?
Are we connected with the reality of integrity?
Body, soul and spirit need to be in ready harmony.
Surely it is a duty to see the God given beauty
In form, space, colour, texture, all of nature,
Where we can be made to feel peaceful, life made delightful.
O Lord, how great is our enjoyment of Chelsea. Thank You so much for the excitement of the gold medal
awards. How our admiration is stirred at this cutting edge flower show. Thank You for all the excitement.
