“This is the day the Lord has made…” Psalm 118 v 24

Heads turning, dreaming perhaps,
Seeming to know in March
Life will soon be aglow
With the vigour of spring,
Daffodils as a family do bring
Such a dance of colour gaily
To make us sing happily.
Narcissi bright iced white,
Through to lemon sorbet or sherbet pale,
Only to hail fellow mellow yellow flowers
Deepening to glorious gold,
Sunlit from high heaven.
By the hours of the warming, rising sun,
Fold upon fold, swathe upon swathe
Of life surging, a quest,
Urging upwards with zest,
Behest of our Maker’s vigorous creativity.
‘Leave drab, dull winter behind,’
They seem to say
‘Find joy in life’s coloured, warming array
Storming the senses like sunstroke.’
Fine flower design bespoke of God,
His splendour, You are the emblem
Of the Sender of glory.
Surely the daffodil dance
Must make us stop
For more than a mere glance.
Beholding breathtaking beauty, it is our duty
To offer thanks, praise,
Truly amaze at new life.
Life is indeed brightly, warmly, excitingly rich.
