“Question the beauty of the earth, question the beauty of the sea... question all these realities. All
respond: ‘See, we are beautiful’. Their beauty is a confession. These beauties are subject to change.
Who made them if not the Beautiful One who is not subject to change?”
St Augustine, Sermon 241 (ccc.32)

Beauty shows something of life’s meaning,
Because beauty must have been created
Only by the mind of the Lord of immense majesty.
Psalm 105 v 3 “Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice,”
For God’s choice for life is portrayed by beauty.
Look at the order, the complexity, the intricacy
Of the natural world anywhere, everywhere about us.
From dawn to dusk the world, where not spoiled
By mankind’s greed or hostility reeking havoc,
Is a world of immensity, astounding beauty.
Our destiny as we journey through life,
Is surrounded by evidence of God’s existence
In both the astonishing macro and micro detail of beauty.
Intelligibly we see God’s hand at work
In the variety, beauty, enormity of His creativity.
A wonder not to be missed.
For as we gaze on beauty in bliss,
This indeed is the kiss of God.
Lord, Your beauty, the gift of Your love, is indeed awesome. Thank You for all the evidence of Your presence as
wonder uplifts our hearts and minds to You in a way most special. Thank You for reaching out to us. Amen.
