“That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new
under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1 v 9
As nothing is actually new under the sun,
Why do we talk about a new life in Jesus?
The answer is all about a changed holy purpose.
It is Jesus, by His and our Father’s Spirit,
Who enables us to inherit a share in godly purpose.
This is where the newness lies,
When we yearn to learn to conform to Jesus,
Ever seeking to do the will of our Father.
“(S)he who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.” 2 John v 8
Godly purpose looks outwards to others
Whereas by nature, we look inwards to ourselves,
Our desires, our wishes, our wants, our needs.
But Jesus in us, changes everything, absolutely everything,
The way we live to give of ourselves to others.
It is by love we discover God’s purpose for us,
The love Jesus shows us in the warmest friendship
As He shares the very Spirit of love with us.
“Give thanks to the LORD for He is good, His faithful love lasts forever.” Psalm 107 v 1
Ask to receive, believe you will and watch it happen.
Love in action is a decision taken in Jesus.
Love as an attraction is a revision of our ways,
Able to make a brave new world about us.
Ultimately this is the victory of the †,
As forgiveness paves the way for a display of love.
A new life in Jesus, is what our Father offers us
That we experience a true happiness, the real happiness.
“Whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him (her). By this we know we are in
Him.” 1 John 1 v 5
In this new life generously gifted,
Holiness and happiness walk very closely hand in hand,
At God’s command and our invitation with firm dedication.
Finding Jesus is real to us, this is the witness.
We are called to give to each other, to discover Jesus.
His is the true love which changes everything,
If we but dare to look to the King and bring Him ourselves.
Yes, God’s purpose for all of us is new life in Jesus.
“ ‘For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me’.”
John 6 v 38
“ ‘This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all that which He has given Me I should lose
nothing, but should raise it up at the last day’.” John 6 v 39
And in the meantime, we have the undiluted joy of knowing You, dearest Father. “The only
John 1 v 18 begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.” Jesus has shared
You by the Spirit of love.
Jesus is the hope Giver and hope always inspires fresh purpose in us. “Why are you cast down,
Psalm 42 v 11 O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? It is not necessary!
Cont. “Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God,” for
Father, You offer me all hope in our new beginning in Jesus, the Healer.
Jesus can, will free us from horrible afflictions and addictions, trials, tribulations, distress and
Psalm 5 v 2 deprivation. “Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God for to You I will pray.”
Be our powerful protection and strong support, a guard against stumbling. “Make your way
v8 straight before my face.” I need, we all need Your guidance, Your Spirit’s help, His wisdom’s
input.
Be our refuge in our need, whatever the distress. Teach us to protect goodness in ourselves and in
each other as You can only give us good things.
“Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may
2 John v 8 receive a full reward.” May You Holy Spirit imbue a sense of responsibility within, helping us
to guard heart and mind, sharing everything with Jesus. Let us strive to consecrate the world to
Jesus as Saviour Healer. Amen.
