A Colour Accent
Sue O'Donnell

Pops of purples,
Taste of tangerine,
Wisps of white,
Prettiness of pinks,
Beautiful blues,
Marvellous mauves,
Boldness of browns,
Glimpses of green,
A colour accent
Is never an accident.
God works with us
As He will undertake
To make
Season by season,
Gardens glorious,
Victorious in colour
Whatever the weather.
For each shade
God has made
To be bolder,
Add accent, attraction,
By sovereign permission.
Colour to entrance us
As we react to tone,
Beautiful when blended,
Striking when shrieking,
Almo

Beautiful when blended,
Striking when shrieking,
Almost speaking assent.
Planting, rearing,
Colour sharing.
Plants climbing,
Clinging, spreading,
Clustering, adding effect.
Dancing before our eyes,
As if to surprise.
To wield the paintbrush,
Is this not why
Our Father Creator
Paints gradually,
Season by season
Portraying variety.
The green of spring
Has come and gone,
Overtaken in May
By colour’s display.
Oh such loveliness,
God is so good to us!

Yes, Lord, Creator Father, we can see Your goodness in so many places around us. Thank You for the glory of
widespread spring colour. A colour accent in May seems to indicate summer is on its way. Oh what hope this
offers us! Amen.
