Book Review: Listen Carefully to me - Sue and Hugh O'Donnell

Shortly after my Confirmation, nearly sixty years ago, I was given a tuppenny tract on prayer entitled ‘Think of Our Lord speaking – to You’. Its fresh, direct, personal approach changed both my perception and experience of praying.

 In a telling moment I realised that praying was much more about quietly listening to the ‘still small voice of God’ speaking intimately into my heart than it was about me talking to God. ‘Listen Carefully to Me’, compiled by Sue and Hugh O’Donnell, offers a daily experience of our Father God giving inspiration, instruction, wisdom and counsel to “my beloved child”. 

We are invited, like pilgrims on a journey with God, through the days, weeks and months of the year, each offering steeped in Scripture, by the power of the Spirit flowing directly into our waiting hearts. What a divine treasury of loving inspiration, reassurance, and joy!
