TURN TO JESUS

Sue O’Donnell. 18.01.21

“ ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him (her) who believes ...’Lord, I believe, help my unbelief’.” (Mark 9 v 23, 24)

Guide our steps firmly in faith, Lord, holy Father,

Make us confident, expectant and hopeful,

Because knowing the Lord Jesus, as Saviour and Redeemer,

This is life for us, whereby we hear

And readily respond to the call to holiness.

Holiness and happiness are a spiritual gift

To lift us away from a worldly perspective,

So as to escape the snare of satan.

his influence is dire, disgusting and disastrous.

“Jesus turned and said directly to Peter’s face: ‘Get out of My way, satan! You only want to hinder Me, because you do not understand the things of God; you think only as (wo)men think’.” (Matthew 16 v 23 The Truth)

Let us not be defeated by his delight in our iniquity,

satan’s continuous attempts to lead us astray,

As and when we disobey God’s precepts and principles.

Instead, let us look to the loving heart of Jesus,

In whom are centred all the treasures of holy wisdom and knowledge.

This will be shared with us if we pray

And say day by day that we need the Holy Spirit,

In whom we inherit Jesus as He truly is,

The Son of God, the living hope dwelling with us.

“God’s Word is alive and will work actively in all who believe. His Word is sharper than any blade. It separates spirit and soul, showing us what is of God and what is of self.” (Hebrews 4 v 12 The Truth)

Jesus is the Saviour in whose fullness we receive,

To believe in our salvation as God’s saving grace.

We are redeemed from the influence of satan!

All praise and thanks ever be to the Holy Trinity,

Enriching our life immeasurably as we turn to Jesus.

His fullness of holiness is our life’s enrichment

Now, daily and on into the joy of eternity.

Jesus is the propitiation of all sinfulness,

As our Father accepts the atonement Jesus made,

As displayed by His love for us at the †.

“In mercy and truth atonement is provided for iniquity and by fear of the LORD one departs from evil.” (Proverbs 16 v 6)

He was bruised for our iniquity, our inability to be holy.

As Jesus was obedient unto death, He showed reverence.

Jesus is our defence against all that is unworthy.

He is our resurrection eternally and new life currently.

We have a Saviour in our holy Brother!

He is the hope of all who live in Him,

In possession of His most precious Body and Blood,

As gifted us in the Holy Eucharist,

A sacramental celebration of our promised salvation.

Turn to Jesus, the Lamb of God.

“Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Lamb of God, You take away the sins of the world,

grant us Your peace. Amen.” (A traditional Catholic prayer)

Jesus is the One who takes away the sins of the world.

Pray asking for mercy, repenting of iniquity.

But pray too, rejoicingly thanking our Father,

Who according to mercy, gifts us a Divine Healer.

Pray in all humility, admitting faults and failures.

Pray and ask for the Spirit of Purity to be busy,

Cleansing, purifying, our life re-addressed in Jesus.

Ask to be made one of His good works in progress,

Then rejoice in your choice of new life given to Jesus.

Turn to Jesus and do not look back!

“ ‘Once a person has begun to plough, (s)he must not look back. Such a one is not fit for service in God’s Kingdom’.” (Luke 9 v 62 The Truth)

You are short of nothing requisite for a godly life.

satan’s strife has been overcome but the battle rages on.

So do not give up on praying, asking for Jesus

And the Holy Spirit’s ever careful safeguarding.

As you pray, you touch the heart of love within the Trinity,

Therefore gain the ability to become and stay reverent.

Reverent by obedience, the call to live honourably,

By sharing in all the blessings of Jesus’ holiness.

For He is the way and truth to live by and never fails us.

Even though this fact remains a reality:

“The mystery of Christ’s godly nature is undoubtedly great.” (1 Timothy 3 v 16 The Truth)

“He appeared in a human body and was shown to be totally acceptable to God when the Spirit came upon Him. He was in the company of angels and has been preached to the nations. People in the

world believed Him to be God’s Son before He returned to the glory of heaven.” (1 Timothy 3 v 16 The Truth)

Dearest Father, although we cannot fully grasp how the Lord Jesus could be completely human because He is Your Son, we can see how He is One amongst us, living a perfectly holy life.

Thank You for this revelation by Your Word made Flesh, rebuking error and falsehood because Jesus is the revealed truth, hidden for ages, but now revealed.

Jesus lives to model life for us. He shows us how to become Your son or daughter intent upon living a virtuous life, a life pleasing to You. Thank You for this inspiringly helpful guidance.

Jesus puts into practice the teachings of sacred Scripture, the written word which gifts us “...the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.” (2 Timothy 3 v 15 NLT)

May we be equipped for the urgent call to Christian service, a work of love which is fully dependent upon trusting in and praying to the holy Trinity. We can only do this though turning to Jesus as Lord, Word,

Saviour and Master.

Lord Jesus, You are life to us in Your many roles. How I thank You for being my Saviour to rescue me from sinfulness, my Redeemer granting me a new life in Your friendship, My Brother when I used to feel so alone

without siblings, My Master whom I fully respect and can look up to, My Shepherd leading me to avoid life’s pitfalls. I cannot imagine being without You.

It so troubles me that some family and friends neither know You nor seem to want to seek and find You.

Please send them Your Spirit of faith, the Paraclete who will help them to live with an exciting spiritual quest.

Thank You for promising to send us Your Spirit whom You call ‘Comforter’, such a reassuring name. “ ‘And I will ask the Father and He will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you’.” (John 16 v 14

NLT)

Your Spirit is essential to our spiritual seeking and finding. Please, please send Him to the unbelievers to enhance their life in discovering Your friendship, salvation and the true quality of life You offer us by sharing

in Your holiness.

It is the Holy Spirit who causes us to say “What can I offer the LORD for all He has done for me?

(Psalm 116 v 12 NLT) It is the Spirit who prompt us to know the answer: “I will lift up the cup of salvation and praise the LORD’s name for saving me.” (v 13)

Dearest Jesus, I want them to be saved, to know the hope, the peace and the joy You offer us in sharing all the godly aspects of life with us. I do not want anyone to be lost to the blessings of salvation, a full life now

as we are rescued from evil and the certainty of heaven for our destiny.

O Lord, how can I help with this quest of evangelisation? What should I say or do? Please, please come to my aid in this, for it is of vital importance to the quality of life, and how we live.

You are life to us in the fullness of enjoying knowing what is right and what is wrong, determining to abide by the former so as to delight and honour our Father. By the Holy Spirit You make this possible, thank You.

My life is so different since I actively sought to know more about You, to live with the certainty of our Father’s mercy, all thanks to Your sacrificial love for us. I would not go back for the world.

I ask to receive of Your holiness to bless me to be able to bless others. I ask for a share in Your Spirit, so I “Can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.” (1 Corinthians 2 v 12 NLT) Also to be able “ ...using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths”. (v 13)

Thank You for the Spirit’s prompting to evaluate all aspects of life in the light of Your wise teachng, Your truth, Lord Jesus. This gifts us the confidence that satan will not, cannot have the last laugh. You are our

Saviour, You are our Master.

I ask for the grace to fulfil our Father’s will for my life by my being fully united to You, my love for the Trinity growing stronger day by day. And for those dear to me, please may Your Spirit set to work on them in

a way which is meaningful to the individuals, preparing me to help in any way that I can.

I offer my day to You, Lord Jesus, today and each day, that it be wisely, actively spent in Your service. There is no time for retirement, for this work is too interesting, uplifting and exciting to even want to walk away

from it.

You are true God and true man, a mystery way beyond our comprehension. When we do not understand, please send Your Spirit of belief teaching us to trust in You as the living Word of God, as love incarnate, as our forever Saviour.

We are profoundly blessed by Your presence amongst us, by Your Sacred Heart of love fully reflecting our Father’s mercy, by Your precious blood shed on the †, by Your being the most holy sacrament of the altar, the true and most holy sacrifice freely gifted us.

Lord, You are our Father’s love and mercy readily given us, for You are our hope of heaven, and our peace and joy upon earth. Oh how You enrich life today. Thank You for everything. Please keep seeking out my

family and friends.

May the Holy Spirit help me to love You in full measure, really treasure, esteem and value Your friendship, grateful for all grace and favour this wins for me, and enables to express my thanks in words and actions.

Thank You that I can speak with You, prayer being a life enriching, most meaningful dialogue, enabling me to hold fast to what is good. Lord, You are my life in the fullness You promised. Thank You. May I not waste

one moment of this. Amen.
