THE LIGHT OF JESUS

Sue O'Donnell. 12.01.21

“I take joy in doing Your will, my God, for Your instructions are written on my heart.” (Psalm 40 v 8 NLT)

All thanks to the impact of the Holy Spirit,

Who comes at our Father’s bidding

Straight from the life giving love of Christ Jesus.

Our Brother who is our Saviour given by the Lord God,

Christ Jesus is the Light of the World.

Because He reflects the Lord God Almighty perfectly,

Being fully combined with the Spirit who is holy.

Together they form a total unity

Which is shaped as love and mercy.

Such blessings as accrue daily

Are due to the light of love shining upon us.

Holy love is an energy producing life.

This is a life which is worthy, for it is virtuous.

Our life is modelled on the pattern of Jesus,

He lives in us by the Holy Spirit,

So we can give of His love directly.

“O taste and see that the Lord (our God) is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the (wo)man who trusts and takes refuge in Him.” (Psalm 34 v 8 AMP)

And thereby, loving the people we can see,

We offer love to the Father we cannot yet see.

The light of love makes us thoughtful,

Careful, discerning right from wrong

Because we belong to the beloved Son,

The Lord Jesus, the perfectly holy One.

His light, diffused by the Holy Spirit,

Can be used to refine our willpower.

Our conscience, our decision making, our reference,

And of course our deference, must be expressed.

This must be done daily to keep us in shape.

For life is a journey of discovery which is rewarding,

Affording us a glimpse of heaven upon earth.

But this will not be without the adversary

Who seeks to darken and extinguish amongst us,

The heart warming, life affirming, joyous love of Jesus.

The devil wishes for adversity to hamper and harm us.

“Be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5 v 8 NASB)

“...to all who have been called by God the Father, who loves you and keeps you safe in the care of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more mercy, peace and love.” (Jude 1, 2 NLT)

“People...who live immoral lives, defy authority, and scoff at supernatural beings (Jude v 8)...They are like wandering stars, doomed forever to blackest darkness.” (v 13) Please pray for them, for “They do not have God’s Spirit in them.” (v 19)

“But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life.” (v 20, 21)

Please pray because “In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.” (v 21)

Please pray as we are told “You must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment.” (v 22)

Please pray because He who is in you is greater and more powerful by far than he who is in the world interfering and disrupting.

Please pray “Hating the sins that contaminate their lives.” (v 23)

Please pray for none believers to come to faith to proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of the Father, in the power of the Holy Spirit, according to the gracious love of the Trinity.

Please pray in gratitude to the Holy Trinity “Who is able to keep us from falling away and will bring us with great joy into His glorious presence without a single fault.” (based on Jude 24) Amen.
