SEPTEMBER’S SUMMER

Sue O’Donnell. 20.09.20

June and July poppy petals the wind has blown,

All too soon now the swallows will have flown,

Summer so lovely, sadly is soon passing.

But luckily, September’s Summer is very reluctant to bid farewell

To this three month spell of sunny glory,

So bridges between the two seasons beautifully.

Still boasting a bounty of flowers

With an added bonus, a new focus,

In foliage gradually, carefully changing colour.

September bids autumn ‘Come in, begin your labour,

Do not shirk your duty to paint pictorially.’

A variety of tree colour, the crescendo coming later,

Plus in addition, an added bonus of gorgeous grasses,

Fluffy, flouncy, richly buff and bouncy,

All offering extra splendour to summer in September.

September seen in such vivid splendour.

Lord, this month is spectacular as it bridges the seasons, offering a farewell to Summer, plus a foretaste of autumn’s glory. Thank You so very much. Amen.
