SAVING JUSTICE

Sue O’Donnell. 01.10.20

“I thank the LORD for His saving justice. I sing to the name of the Most High.” (Psalm 7 v 17 TNJB)

For love’s mission sits within the heart of God.

What is this mission?

To know love and serve our Father as He does deserve.

For the Lord God Almighty is the Protector

Calling us homewards to His holy company eternally enjoyed.

Our Father is also the Provider,

Providing the means of our blessed salvation, an inheritance.

Salvation is God’s rescue of us through Christ Jesus.

He comes to live amongst us by His Spirit of holiness.

Holy wisdom given is God’s gift from heaven.

“The works of His hands are faithful and just; all His precepts are trustworthy.” (Psalm 111 v 7 NIV)

Every day is richly blessed by our Father,

When we choose to live this blessing, aware of the Lord Jesus,

Deciding, praying to be receptive to the Holy Spirit.

For then any wish for worldliness evaporates.

We wish only to dedicate our life to holiness,

And all the incumbent work of Christian service.

God in us, in Jesus, by the Spirit,

This changes everything in and about us.

Looking to the † we see mercy offered

In an extraordinary way as Christ Jesus suffered on our behalf.

“God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 2 v 21 NIV)

But think this through and we can see

What more could God do to forgive us?

A penalty had to be paid to secure justice.

The family of the Trinity took this upon themselves,

For they are holy, one unity of perfect holiness.

Justice demanded the highest price,

The sacrifice was made in the spilling of the blood

Of the perfect Man who won the race of life,

For this very purpose of establishing saving justice.

Doing this once, for all peoples, that we

Called to be family, be blessed by holiness.

“For the LORD longs to be gracious to You; He rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him.” (Isaiah 30 v 18 NIV)

“May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for You rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth.” (Psalm 67 v 4)

Let us pray. “For the LORD is righteous, He loves justice; upright men will see His face.” (Psalm 11 v 7 NIV) Amen.
