“So now we have received His unshakeable Kingdom, as a gift from God. We can be thankful, therefore and worship Him as He deserves with reverence and in awe of who He is.” (Hebrews 12 v 28 The Truth)
Pray to obey
to listen
to learn
to discern
to develop
to become
virtuous in holiness,
More like the Lord Jesus,
More open to the Spirit,
More pleasing to our Father.
“And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; for You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.” (Psalm 9 v 10)
In receipt of forgiveness,
Pray to repent
to relent
to express remorse
And contrition, of course.
Asking for mercy,
Seeking a new identity,
Desiring a fresh start
Arising out of a heart,
Mind, will, conscience, imagination influenced to love.
“It is most important for you to love one another deeply because that love covers a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4 v 8 The Truth)
Touched by the Spirit,
Deepening friendship with Jesus,
Pray to adore
to admire
to thank
to praise
to amaze
to be in awe
Of our Father’s merciful way,
His steadfast loving kindness.
“It is good to give thanks to the LORD and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High, to declare Your loving kindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night.” (Psalm 92 v 1, 2)
Pure love is manifest in Christ Jesus,
The Word of Life,
A new life,
A redeemed life
Cleansed by the Spirit.
Pray to worship
Our Father, ever kindly,
Our Brother, living for us,
Surviving the †of sacrifice
A penalty paid for us.
“Rise up, O Judge of the earth; render punishment to the proud. LORD, how long will the wicked, how long will be wicked triumph?” (Psalm 94 v 3)
Pray to our Sanctifier, the Holy Spirit,
Who is Lord
A true love to afford,
Pray in humility,
Dependent upon Jesus
And His †of victory,
Saving us from sinfulness,
Restoring us to holiness.
In prayer we worship
Grateful for Jesus.
“He has chosen to reveal to all who are His among the nations, the glorious riches that are centred
on this mystery that Christ has now come to live in you, and in Him alone is your hope of glory, now
and for all eternity.” (Colossians 1 v 27 The Truth)
Praying, we become appreciative of the Spirit,
Dutiful towards our Father.
All Three, the Trinity,
Like us to pray,
Not now and again
When in search of help,
But each and everyday
In whatever way we can.
Pray individually
In a quiet place,
Make space of your choosing.
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46 v 10)
Pray collectively
Amidst church liturgy
And rejoicing sacramentally,
Together as one body,
The Church on earth,
Which the Lord Jesus
King over us,
Gave birth to,
In His incarnation,
By His crucifixion,
In His resurrection.
“ ‘I am the resurrection and the life. (S)he who believes in Me, though (s)he may die, (s)he shall live’.” (John 11 v 25)
Pray after the ascension,
Sending then to us
His and our Father’s
Very own Spirit of holiness.
The Spirit of prayer,
When we rejoice
To share widely,
God’s hand upon us.
Gifting us the dignity
Of becoming holy in Jesus.
“...we are all able to reflect the Lord’s glory. The more that glory is revealed in us, the more like Him we become.” (2 Corinthians 3 v 18 The Truth)
“So this glory that comes from the Lord is continually increasing in our lives because the Spirit of glory lives in us.” (2 Corinthians 3 v 18 The Truth)
Thank You dearest Father, that as we pray to and through the Lord Jesus, led by Your Spirit, we discover the light of Your love extinguishing the darkness of our sin, so we can begin again, Your forgiveness having
wiped clean the record of our life to date.
May the Spirit take us forwards reassured of Your love and fortitude, trusting more in the salvation the Lord Jesus won for us at the †. Pour out Your grace upon us please.
May the Spirit reform us to conform us to live in the way the Lord Jesus asks of us, models for us, offers to us. May our hearts be unlocked to love selflessly, secure in the presence of You as a Trinity of love and mercy.
We receive an abundance of help as we pray and ask, pray and repent for the errors of our ways.
May the Spirit of gratitude help us to express our thanks, awed by the majesty of holy love.
May the Spirit of the Lord Jesus fully possess us that we might serve You without worry, knowing the Lord Jesus makes us of right standing before You, sharing His holiness with us.
We pray primarily, that the Lord Jesus, by the Spirit, form a likeness to our Saviour’s holiness, His exemplary life of goodness, so worthy of honour, thanksgiving and praise.
Everything else that is eternally worthy flows from this anointing, enabling us as the Lord Jesus’ good works in progress, to become His better works because the Spirit’s efforts are continuous and bring about godliness.
May the Holy Spirit perfect in us all that is lacking in our conforming to the way, the truth and the life the Lord Jesus places before us, His love in our every thought, decision, word and action.
Please ever gift us such joy in the friendship of Jesus, in our prayerful worship, that this joy will overflow to the clear witness of many, who then, touched by the Spirit, also seek to pray. Amen.
