LIFE IN ALL HOLINESS

Sue O’Donnell. 17.08.20

“My soul shall be satisfied with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.” (Psalm 63 v 5)

Loved and forgiven,

Restored and replenished,

Redeemed and re-created,

Oh the most marvellous gift of Jesus!

It is truly marvellous,

Remarkable and beautiful,

Momentous and memorable,

We are sacramentally blessed.

“ ‘Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes.

Cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow’.” (Isaiah 1 v 16, 17)

Richly possessed of Jesus,

As Lord, in the Eucharist,

As the living Word of God.

Although sacrificed, crucified,

Accepting a †for our forgiveness,

The One who died,

God’s holy Son, the perfect One,

Rose again for us.

“For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living.” (Romans 14 v 9)

Saved and re-united,

Sanctified and delighted,

Graced by forgiveness.

Our new life is in Christ Jesus.

He is our Eucharist,

Our power of love,

And our Father’s mercy,

Brought and taught

By the Spirit of purity.

“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me hear joy and gladness...Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out my iniquities.” (Psalm 51 v 7, 8)

In Christ Jesus lies our unity,

A strength of holy love.

The Eucharist is miraculous,

Grace given us

In the Person of Jesus,

Hidden beneath the substance

Of holy Bread

By which we are spiritually fed.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.” (Psalm 51 v 10, 11)

And fine the wine,

As holy blood is shed

For us at the †,

By the Saviour Jesus.

Fed on holy Bread

To forgive our sinfulness,

Heal and restore us,

To wholeness, is wondrous.

“Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Your glory be above all the earth.” (Psalm 57 v 11)

What an amazing grace!

Truly remarkably marvellous.

All thanks ever be

For the glory of the †,

Of the world’s Saviour, Christ Jesus,

His arms outstretched on the †,

Entirely out of love for us.

We are a redeemed people blessed by mercy.

“Because You have been my help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice.” (Psalm 63 v 7)

“My soul follows closely behind You, Your right hand upholds me...Everyone who swears by Him shall glory.” (Psalm 63 v 8, 11)

Dearest Father of mercy, I praise and thank You that as our Saviour Brother fills us with His love, that which You and the Spirit have, by the forgiveness found at His †, we are restored to every grace and blessing

of being healed from sin.

We delight to begin again! Made one with our Saviour, we are saved from satan’s trickery, deceit and waywardness, enabled now, being blessed by receipt of the Holy Spirit, to pursue the life planned for us. “So

I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory,” (Psalm 63 v 2) as the Spirit prompts me.

Oh what a difference partaking of the real, living Presence of the Lord Jesus in the Eucharist, has made to me. “Because Your loving kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. “ (v 5)

I realise I am being prepared for our homeland in heaven, our destiny as sourced by the Lord Jesus and shaped for us by the safeguarding, guiding, life enhancing Spirit.

“Thus I will bless You while I live” (v 4) and that will be forever, all thanks for gifting me a Saviour and Sanctifier. In the Eucharist we are gifted of Christ Jesus to uplift our eyes to heaven.

“I will lift up my hands in Your name,” (Cont) as a Trinity of steadfast loving kindness and mercy, Jesus raised up on the †, for all the world to see. May He now be raised in glory, living in His followers, made

powerful in love’s strength by the Spirit.

Let us be a mighty army of praise, of power, of persuasion in all things pertaining to life in all holiness, not only as a means to our end, but as a truly joyous experience now, daily, as we strive to fulfil our calling as

Christians.

Overcoming the weakness that is both the cause and the effect of sinfulness, let us be sent out in the strength of the Spirit, whose focus is ever upon enabling us to be the Lord Jesus’ body, alive and active across the world.

We claim the victory of the †, we name the Lord Jesus as our Healer and Saviour, together with the Spirit as Purifier and Sanctifier, and of course, You, dearest Father and Protector. May we each use our time, talents

and resources well in the Lord Jesus’ service.

Thank You for fortifying us for this work by the holiness the Lord Jesus shares with us in the Eucharist.

Here is a most glorious light shining into the darkness of our sin to obliterate all faults and failings.

May the Holy Spirit grant us a disciple’s mind to plan and act, a disciple’s will to serve without counting the cost, a disciple’s conscience which will base all that is said and done on holiness, and of course, a disciple’s

heart to love.

Let the Spirit breathe new, creative ideas which will benefit society in general, as He lays upon a heart or mind somewhere, holy plans for a better, brighter, holier future for society in general.

Let us work together for freedom from poverty and neglect, for the cause of a God given justice and peace, for the end to all war, as we endeavour to live through Christ Jesus.

Living in Him, He in us by the Eucharist, living for Him and through Him, the church needs to be the voice of the wisdom, truth, love and mercy the Lord Himself portrays to us. I ask that oppressed peoples and

refugees find security in holy love.

As the Lord, our Master draws us closer and closer to Himself through gifting us His body and blood, may we grow in holiness through the graces of the Eucharist, always persevering in prayer and faith’s outreach. I ask in Jesus’ name as the Bread of Life. Amen.
