“God is with the generation of the righteous.” (Psalm 14 v 5)
Life’s deepest, highest, richest, fullest sense,
The discovery of life’s meaning and purpose,
Is but in one place only, the Person of Jesus,
Jesus as Lord, Saviour, Master and Word.
Jesus makes our Father’s personality His identity,
Clear to us through sending us the Spirit.
The Holy Spirit captures our mind and heart for Jesus.
“The Spirit is life because of righteousness.” (Romans 8 v 10)
For the godly purpose Christ Jesus lays before us.
That purpose is to seek to find the Lord God,
So as to delight and honour Him daily.
Why ignore or abandon this highest calling?
The truth of the gospel is made ours
To share as we declare our belief in Jesus,
All He is to us, does for us and accomplishes.
“I felt there was a kind of war going on within me, a battle that I was constantly losing because I was a prisoner of the law of sin that urged me to use my body in sinful ways. What a dilemma! What a mess! Can you see how wretched I felt about myself? Was there anyone who could save me from this terrible predicament? Yes, thank God! And His name is Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 7 v 22, 23, 24 The Truth)
Our highest calling is to live within Jesus’ friendship,
Always listening out to heed the faith building Spirit calling,
As He like the Father and the Lord Jesus,
Is everything we need to develop a life of love.
In one word, love is our highest calling.
Us in Him, He in us, O the blessing of knowing,
Of believing in, adhering to and following the Lord Jesus.
“Through His action God dealt with the condemnation under which all sinners live. In Christ, all the demands God expressed in the laws He gave were fulfilled. So now we live in the good of what He accomplished. He succeeded where we had all failed miserably. So now we can live as if we had succeeded. His success has become our success, so long as we no longer live in the weakness of our old sinful nature, but now live led by and filled by God’s Spirit.” (Romans 8 v 3, 4 The Truth)
Guided and guarded by the Holy Spirit of love,
We are blessed by our Father to enjoy union in our highest calling,
The fullness of life we have been promised.
This is a fact, a truth, a reality,
All praise, all thanks, all glory ever be to the Holy Trinity,
By our highest calling to be a family of love.
Love in all purity, intensity and immensity.
“ ‘This was the very reason for which I came. Father, glorify Your name’!” (John 12 v 27, 28)
“ ‘The time of judgment on this world has come. Now the prince of this world, the devil, will be driven out. When I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to Myself’.” (John 12 v 31, 32)
Lord Jesus, Your love works in marvellous ways, for the more Your Spirit teaches us to love in response to You, the more readily Your love flows back to us.
Love is the essence of a life lived in faith, and for this truly we thank You, Lord of Love, our Saviour from all that is evil being unloving.
You are the Divine Healer of our body, mind and spirit. We see marvellous results in the fruitfulness of Your love for us, working upon our body, mind and spirit.
Whilst never compromising the truth of who You are and all You achieve for us, may Your Spirit help us to give of Your fullness. For You reside closest to the Father.
Let us daily be strengthened, supported and encouraged in love as we become equipped by the Spirit of love to give as much of ourselves as we can in sympathetic and empathetic support.
Thank You Lord Jesus for coming to serve us through Your love, our Father’s mercy put into effect, to forgive us. which helps our healing, and to restore us to our Father’s every grace and favour.
Delighting in Your company, let us be resolved to commit ourselves to all those to whom Your Spirit directs our attention, praying to become unswerving in our efforts to serve with love, always for the sake of Christian love, whereby You ask us to help carry a †of suffering.
The love of the Trinity beyond all imagining, recognises, in fact demands, trust. May the Spirit develop our ability to trust in You as Lord, Saviour, Master, Divine Healer.
For You are the One in whom our Father is well pleased because You display nothing but love to us. It is true that we do love You because as the Son of God, You brought the love of the entire Trinity to us.
It is the power of holy love which turns our heart and mind towards You as the fulfilment of God’s every promise to mankind, the New Covenant of love and mercy firmly established and fulfilled.
Thus we dare to pray and ask for the mercy of help and support, of healing from all that is evil and inflicts harm upon us. Thank You Lord Jesus, for standing beside us as we pray, for praying for us and for helping us by sending the Spirit of prayer to shape our thoughts.
May prayer enable us to follow You without any deviation, adhering to the overarching Law of Love which You gave us, determined not stray nor disobey. May we be willing pupils alert to Your Spirit’s correction as often as is necessary.
Lord Jesus, Yours is the sovereignty, the power and the glory shared with the Lord God Almighty and the co-equal Holy Spirit. You call us to become a part of a royal family. May the majesty of holy love truly reign to
commit us to our Highest Calling and keep us there.
How You do bless us, Lord God by reaching us through our Saviour Brother, the Lord Jesus, as He lives in and amongst us according to the powerful input and life enriching influence of the Holy Spirit, all for the
sake of love.
It is Your love alive and active amongst us which forms and furnishes our highest calling carried out in the name of the Lord Jesus, our Saviour. “The LORD has done great things for us, and we are glad” (Psalm 136 v 9) when we reap a harvest of faithfulness.
“Mankind will extol You, my God, O King, and I will bless Your name forever and ever.” (Psalm 145 v 1) “...All Your works shall praise You, O LORD, and Your saints shall bless You, they shall speak o the glory of Your kingdom and talk of Your power.” (v 10, 11)
That is the power of holy love which “Upholds all who fall and raises up all who are bowed down.” (Psalm 145 v 14) when our highest calling is in action to be a blessing. We pray and out of the mercies of Your love, You respond to us.
“I have trusted in Your mercy” (Psalm 13 v 5) for this is the way You have dealt with me. “My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.” (Cont) and I hope to persevere in fulfilling the high calling You put before me.
Dearest Father, Lord Jesus, and Holy Spirit, I ask that Your life in me calls out my response of love to Your love, that I fulfil Your hopes and expectations of me, because You have “Dealt bountifully with me,” (v 6)
praise be.
You have made me Your own, adopting me into Your family where I truly rejoice to be. Daily You teach me according to the power of Your love. May this love be my life’s mission. Amen.
