Oh how happy we can be,
To watch our young children at the sea.
Energetically exploring, gymnastics practising, wave jumping,
Running, skipping, gloriously free, cautiously donkey riding!
Boats and balls and buckets,
Kites and fishing rods and a spade,
The beach bag packed and made ready,
Sun cream at the ready,
As bright sunbeams shinE through and are steady.
Carefree days, the sun’s haze,
The fast rolling tide will amaze,
Inviting paddling, swimming and pebble skimming.
Tiny people, sunshine tanned, running,
In the sea and across the sand,
Busy sand castle building, dad at hand.
Enjoying casually beach combing,
Shell collecting, to and fro roaming.
Running merrily on the beach they go
Not a care in the world, to and fro.
What joy we should share,
In this innocent pleasure everywhere.
If feeling something of a worry,
Perplexed, held by fret and anxiety,
Really there is a remedy.
Go and enjoy a child’s company!
Happily content at the sea,
What a real pleasure this can be.
Whilst setting up a store in the memory
Of time when we were truly free,
Can this now be replicated?
Yes, if to the Lord Jesus we are dedicated.
He is the centre of all of life,
The One to lift above all strife.
Originally living in Galilee
By God’s miracles, Jesus now is in you and me.
Here again we can feel real happiness,
Jesus comes to us to bless.
Some days of sorrow, some of joy,
Jesus will His Spirit employ,
To bring us back to real contentment,
Our Father’s plan as this was ever meant.
This joy is not quickly passing
Like a seaside holiday finishing,
This joy is our everyday
When to the Lord Jesus we learn to pray.
The Spirit in us, Jesus with us,
Ever, ever God’s highest purpose.
All of life shared with God, the Trinity,
Through Jesus, we find faith’s ability.
Hope, peace and everlasting joy
Are His offer to employ.
Happy, contented joyous thoughts,
In the love of Jesus be ever caught.
Offer God all thanks and praise
For aspects of life at which we amaze.
Even the worries with Jesus we share,
Is trouble halved without compare.
Life is not easy as we all know,
But we have someone to whom we can always go. (2 Corinthians 1 v 3)
Knowledge of the Lord Jesus’ friendship
Is the joy through which we ever can worship.
How great is God’s love throughout the earth,
By His Son and His Spirit faith comes to birth.
Father, for our faith, for the Lord Jesus, Your Spirit, for sun, sand and sea, for gloriously happy children and fond memories, I praise and thank You. Amen.
