DECIDED HOPE

Sue O’Donnell. 20.03.21

“...we hold to the hope that lies before us.” (Hebrews 6 v 18 NLT)

My Jesus, my focus,

All Your goodness

Is my hope of holiness.

As it is with all

Who believe that You are

God’s Son, the holy One.

Holiness is contagious

When we live in Your friendship.

You are our highest worship.

We rejoice to be made family.

“Jesus is not ashamed to call us His brothers and sisters.” (Hebrews 2 v 11 NLT)

You in us, us in You.

May this be so

In all we say and do.

Let the power of holy love

Shine through to obliterate our sinfulness.

The darkness of our selfishness

Shrouds with world in fear, fret,

In worry, perplexity and anxiety.

But Lord Jesus, God’s living Word,

You went to the † dying for us.

“ ‘I will put My trust in Him’ that is ‘I and the children God has given Me’.” (Hebrews 2 v 13 NLT)

Then You rose again to be with us,

To transcend all difficulty.

Your humanity is fully holy.

Your divinity is powerfully expressed.

Lord Jesus, our focus,

All that is of You,

Is our decided hope.

This hope is realistic

For the Holy Spirit works

With us, in You, through love.

“God confirmed the message, by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever He chose.” (Hebrews 2 v 4 NLT)

Love in all its power,

This is our hope of redemption.

No more mention of doubt ,

Nor of fear, no insecurity.

You are a Trinity most holy,

A unity of perfect love, a charity

Of outstanding, incredible mercy,

Inviting us to be holy.

That we become family,

One family united in love of the Trinity.

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill us completely with joy and peace because we trust in Him.” (based on Romans 15 v 13)

“Then we will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” (based on Romans 15 v 13)

Let us pray with thanksgiving because:

“This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.” (Hebrews 6 v 19)

We have the Lord Jesus as God’s living Word, the fulfilment of every holy promise;

We are His brothers and sisters by grace. “For He said to God, ‘I will proclaim Your name to My brothers and sisters’.” (Hebrews 2 v 12 NLT)

This is a sure and certain hope; We are a people belonging to the Father of mercy, according to His Son’s victory over evil at the †;

The Holy Spirit develops our understanding and appreciation of this victory;

The Spirit helps us to focus on the love the Lord Jesus offers us;

Working together with our Saviour and our Sanctifier, we can eradicate all the ills of society;

Mercies never fail; they are new every morning;

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen.” (Hebrews 11 v 1 NLT)

Faith gifts us “Assurance about things we cannot see” (Cont) in all its power at work, but can appreciate why goodness can prevail;

Those who love the Lord Jesus and work in His service, are helping to make the world a brighter, better, holier place to enjoy;

We are Kingdom builders daily, progressively;

We delight in partnering with the Lord Jesus, by the Holy Spirit, spreading the Good News of all the Lord Jesus has accomplished for us;

Of being certain that God, who began this good work in us, – the work of salvation and consecration – “Will continue His work...” (based on Philippians 1 v 6)

One day this work will be completed and Christ Jesus will return to claim us as His own;

Heaven awaits those who belong to Christ Jesus;

Holy love is faithful and true to each and every promise made to us;

We learn this through experiencing the truly loving friendship of Christ Jesus;

We live as a people of hope because grace, blessing and peace have been made ours, all by the power of holy love winning over every difficulty;

We rejoice to belong to Christ Jesus.
