BLESSINGS 1

Sue O’Donnell. 17.03.21

“ ‘Blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and their confidence.” (Jeremiah 17 v 7 NLT)

Where do such blessings come from?

They arise from our friendship with the Lord Jesus,

The living, abiding Word of God,

Who comes to us through the work of the Holy Spirit.

We are blessed as long as we do not shirk

All the holy wisdom and truth presented to us.

We are “Called by God to be His own holy people.” (1 Corinthians 1 v 2 NLT)

Our Father does this by sending His Son to live amongst us.

This Son of God, Son of Mary, is new life to us.

“God...is faithful to do what He says, and has invited you into partnership with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1 v 9 NLT)

This is to free us from all sinfulness,

That which breaks up society, making disharmony.

We are called to salvation by a love which heals us.

The Lord Jesus being the Divine healer amongst us.

When we look at His example as to how to live wisely,

When we listen to His wisdom shared with us,

When we accept the †He suffered for our forgiveness,

When we pray asking to believe and receive from Him,

Then we begin an entirely new way of life.

“On that day you will realise that I am in My Father, and you are in Me and I am in you’.” (John 14 v 20 NIV)

What a most meaningful position to be in,

God is with us in Christ Jesus, by acceptance.

Whenever we pray our faith is deepened,

As the Holy Spirit makes efforts towards this.

Daily He promotes the blessings of Christ Jesus’ friendship,

Enabling us to worship with a truly trusting heart.

Whatever goes wrong in life, whatever the strife,

We have a Rescuer in Jesus, our Redeemer.

He saves us from all manner of ills and setbacks.

“God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in You, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1 v 27)

This glory is to our Father’s deepest satisfaction,

In seeing us restored to holiness as we work and pray

To always share this arising from the love of Christ Jesus.

With Him alive in us, His body active on earth,

Hope is given birth by all manner of loving kindness.

Life becomes incredibly enriched by the holiness of Jesus shared,

As the Holy Spirit, the Advocate supports this.

Peace between us and our Father is re-established,

And we are profoundly blessed to find happiness in Jesus’ holiness.

“For in Him we live and move and have our being... ‘We are His offspring’.” (Acts 17 v 28)

“Pray...asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight, so that you might grow in Your knowledge of God.” (Ephesians 1 v 16, 17 NLT)

Please pray “That your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope He has given to those He called – His holy people who are His rich and glorious inheritance.” (Ephesians 1 v 18 NLT)

Please pray “That you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe Him.” (Ephesians 1 v 19 NLT)

Please pray to recognise and respond to this “Same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him in the place of honour at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.” (Ephesians 1 v 20 NLT)

Please pray to understand that love is stronger by far than hate, just as life is stronger than death.

Please pray to know that “God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made Him Head over all things for the benefit of the church.” (Ephesians 1 v 22 NLT)

Please pray to be an active and effective part of “The church (which) is His body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with Himself.” (Ephesians 1 v 23 NLT)

Please pray that in honouring this blessing, it can be shared with as many others as possible.

Please pray to acknowledge our life’s work is to evangelise and share the Good News of the salvation Christ Jesus wins for us.

Please pray for an ever deepening experience of the love of Christ Jesus, that which surpasses knowledge without this experience.

Please pray for the Saviour to live within our heart, mind, will and conscience by the purifying, anointing, life enriching Holy Spirit of love.

Please pray for the fullness of holy love to spill out wherever we are.

Please pray to bear fruit by faith, changing lives for the better by understanding the truth of God’s wonderful grace of merciful forgiveness as won for us by Christ Jesus.

Please pray for the way You live to always delight and honour our Father, for Jesus is Lord, Saviour, Redeemer, Healer and Master over us, producing good fruit by the tireless efforts of the Holy Spirit.

Please pray to develop through perseverance all the endurance and patience needed in the face of setbacks.

Please pray for any setbacks to become a learning point, a stepping stone to a sounder, stronger trust in God’s goodness.

Please pray to daily offer all praise and thanksgiving for the countless blessings we enjoy.

Please pray for the world to recognise the Easter celebrations for what they are. We have been rescued from the kingdom of darkness as ruled by satan, and transferred into the kingdom on earth belonging to the Lord Jesus.

Please pray to honour the fact that the beloved Son of God purchased our freedom by shedding His blood at the †, that all our sinfulness would be forgiven and forgotten.

Please pray because “God in all His fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through Him, God reconciled everything to Himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the †.” (Colossians 1 v 19 NLT)

Please pray in thanksgiving for the hope, the peace and the joy we experience when we focus on Jesus, the Divine Healer, daily praying calling on His Spirit, the faith Builder.

Please pray for all with whom You live, work and socialise “To present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ.” (Colossians 1 v 28 NLT)

Please pray for us all to clothe ourselves “...with tender hearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience,” (Colossians 3 v 12 NLT) allowing for faults and forgiving offences.

Please pray for the life giving power of holy love to flourish as this is our bond with the Trinity and each other.

Please pray to let the peace that comes from Christ, rule in all our lives, grateful that we have the means to accomplish this.

Please pray that whatever we desire, decide, do or say will represent the love we are so blessed to receive from the Trinity, always offering all praise and thanks for this.

Please pray asking forgiveness for any failure to love and to return to faith’s call to love, eager to serve in the most precious name of the Lord Jesus, the Light of the world. Amen.
